Chef patron at The Winterbourne, Winterbourne Bassett. Roger prides himself in using fresh seasonal produce, quality meats and fish. His perpetually evolving menu is testament to this.
Roger’s career really took off when he was appointed as Junior Sous Chef at the 3AAA rosette Kitley Hotel under James Tanner (of the Tanner Brothers). A Roux Scholarship followed with a two-year placement at the Relais Chateau, Lake Plaid Lodge in North State New York USA. Roger also worked at the 1 Michelin Star, New Angel as Senior Sous Chef to John Burton-Race, for several Years.
Moving to Wiltshire, Roger gained a great reputation at the Barbury Inn, receiving 10/10 review from Wiltshire Life’s Magazines Secret Diner, then ranking 2nd in the Wiltshire Life Magazines Pub Of the Year.
As a result of his success, Roger took the position of head chef at The White Horse Compton Bassett Gaining 2AA Rosettes & Michelin recognition. He now has his eyes firmly on the future of The Winterbourne.
